Gideon Koppel is an artist and filmmaker. For several years he made commercials and films for and about fashion designers, including a film installation for Comme des Garçons. His first work for broadcast television was 'Jones' - a maverick Welsh language drama, based on the correspondence between Sigmund Freud and Ernest Jones.
In 2009 Gideon won The Guardian First Feature Film Award for his critically acclaimed cinema documentary ‘sleep furiously’ which has a soundtrack by Aphex Twin. Gideon is an Emeritus Professor of Film at Manchester School of Art and an Associate Fellow at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford.
