Dr Kirsten Tatum

MA Landscape Architecture Studies Course Leader

Kirsten has a PhD from the University of Nottingham on the topic of design in UK National Park landscapes (2019). She studied Architecture at the Architectural Association and Art History at the Courtauld Institute of Art. She is also a qualified garden designer.

Her interdisciplinary work integrates architecture, landscape, design policy and strategic planning. She is an academic member of the Landscape Institute, UK.

Kirsten is passionate about landscape for the way it can connect people across disciplines, cultures and communities, with the common goal of creating places that have a positive impact on society, culture, and the environment.

Kirsten's career highlights 

  • Developing expertise that encompasses a range of built environment disciplines, including architecture, landscape and urban/rural planning, plus design history and theory.
  • Teaching diverse student bodies across a variety of institutions and design courses, including three professional arts universities.
  • Gaining an international perspective, having not only lived in seven different countries, but also worked in design practices in the UK, the Czech Republic, Singapore, and Japan.
